Rupali Bank SureCash Mobile Banking for Sugar Mill Payments
Dhaka – 11th August - Bangladesh Sugar & Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) signed an agreement to use Rupali Bank SureCash mobile financial services to disburse payments to cane growers. Under this agreement cane growers can receive their loan, repay loan, get incentive or get payment for selling cane to the mills. Under this service, 15 mills will disburse more than six billion taka annually to one hundred and twenty five thousand farmers.
The agreement was signed by Bangladesh Sugar & Food Industries Corporation Secretary Engineer Md. Mahbubar Rahman, Rupali Bank General Manager IT Md. Main Uddin and Chief Executive Officer of SureCash Dr. Shahadat Khan at the corporation headquarter.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan ndc was present as chief guest, and BSFIC Acting Chairman AKM Delwar Hossain, FCMA, Rupali Bank Acting Managing Director Mr. Debasish Chakrabarty and SureCash Chairman Md. Faizullah Khan were present as special guests.
Senior Secretary Mr. Bhuiyan said, “Sugar mill automation using e-Gazette and e-Purjee along with payment transaction using mobile banking is a big step forward for the government’s digitalization initiative. This will definitely increase the mills’ efficiency, productivity and operational transparency. For the growers, this will ensure fairness and will reduce hassle significantly.”
“To strengthen the sugar industry in Bangladesh, we need to raise the growers’ confidence and bring new energy to the sugar mills, and for this there is no alternative to digitalization”, commented BSFIC Acting Chairman Mr. Hossain.
Rupali Bank Acting Managing Director Mr. Chakrabarty said, “We are very delighted to be part of digitalization of BSFIC’s processes and transactions. Rupali Bank is the first, and so far the only government bank, that offers mobile banking and payment services.”

Rupali Bank SureCash is a complete mobile banking and payment service, that allows customers to send money, pay bills, do mobile phone recharge and pay educational institutions from their own phones and allows customers to open bank account and deposit or withdraw money using more than 50,000 retail agents spread around the country.
Primary Stipend Disbursement Through Mobile Banking
Dhaka – 24th August – Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Rupali Bank and Teletalk signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the disbursement of primary stipend through mobile banking. Under this MoU, government will use Rupali Bank SureCash mobile banking service to disburse stipends to mothers all over the country and Teletalk will provide free mobile phone SIMs to the mothers.
The honorable Minister Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MoPME) Advocate Mostafizur Rahman M.P. attended the ceremony as chief guest and honorable State Minister Tarana Halim M.P. of Department of the telecommunication division was the special guest. The MoU was signed by Secretary of MoPME Mohammad Humayun Khalid, Acting Managing Director of Rupali Bank Mr. Debasish Chakrabarty and Managing Director of Teletalk Mr. Gias Uddin Ahmed. The program was also attended by ADG of Directorate of Primary Education and additional Secretary Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Chief Executive Officer of SureCash Dr. Shahadat Khan and high officials from the related organizations.
Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman said, “Disbursement of stipend through mobile banking is the government’s biggest payment digitization initiative. Through this, government will send stipend money directly to the mothers’ mobile banking accounts. This will make stipend program management easier and more efficient, and will reduce hassle for the mothers.”
“Mothers will play the most important role in the realization of our dream of Digital Bangladesh. We therefore have taken joint initiative where Teletalk will provide free mobile connections to the mothers, Rupali bank will provide them mobile banking accounts, and government will disburse stipends directly to their accounts”, commented Honorable State Minister Tarana Halim.
“As part of this initiative, we are developing a complete database for primary students and their parents which will be used for planning and other digitization activities”, said Secretary Mohammad Humayun Khalid.
Managing Director of Teletalk Mr. Gias Uddin Ahmed said, “Teletalk has created a new product called ‘Mayer Hashi’ (meaning Mother’s Smile) in order to deliver mobile phones to all mothers. We will provide free SIMs and 20 taka free talk time every month to the mothers.”
“Rupali Bank is the first government bank in Bangladesh that introduced mobile financial services. We intent to participate in all payment digitization projects of the government”, said Acting Managing Director of Rupali Bank Mr. Debasish Chakrabarty.
Rupali Bank SureCash will Disburse Primary Education Stipend
Dhaka - 20th June - Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will use Rupali Bank SureCash mobile banking service to disburse stipend for students. The ministry and the bank signed an agreement at the Directorate of Primary Education.
In presence of Honorable Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman and Rupali Bank Board of Director Chairman Monzur Hossain, the agreement was signed by Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Humayun Khalid and Managing Director of Rupali Bank M. Farid Uddin.
In the signing ceremony, Additional Secretary N.I Khan, Additional Secretary Md. Gias Uddin Ahmed, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Additional Director General Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Deputy Managing Director Debasish Chakrabarty and Chief Executive Officer of SureCash Dr. Shahadat Khan, Chief Business Officer Abu Taleb and other high officials were present.
Initially, Rupali Bank SureCash will disburse stipend this year as a pilot and will be used for all primary stipends in the country, starting upcoming fiscal year. Progoti Systems Limited will provide technical support in this project.
Honorable Minister Rahman said that, ‘‘Government of Bangladesh has the mandate to digitalize all government payments and stipend disbursement through mobile banking which is an important initiative in that direction. From now on mothers of primary students will receive stipends directly into their mobile account, and as a result our disbursement process will be easy, efficient and transparent.’’
Secretary Humayun Khalid states that, “As part of their initiative we are developing a database for primary students and their parents that can be used later for various planning and research.”

Grameen Bank Signs MoU with SureCash Mobile Banking

Grameen Bank (GB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to use SureCash mobile payment platform for its operation. Under this MoU, GB members will use SureCash mobile banking to receive loans, make installment payments and save money using their own phones on a pilot basis. GM (Audit) Mahbubur Rahman of Grameen Bank and CEO Dr. Shahadat Khan of SureCash signed the MoU in presence of Acting Managing Director Mr. Ratan Kumar Nag, GM (Central Accounts Department) Babul Saha of Grameen Bank and CBO Md. Grameen Shakti (GS) has recently signed an MoU to use SureCash mobile banking and payment platform. Under this MoU, 1.6 million GS customers living across the remote areas will use mobile-phone based SureCash automated payment platform to pay their installments for its Solar Home Systems. Karmasangsthan Bank Joins SureCash Network

Karmasangsthan Bank (KB) has recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to use SureCash mobile banking and payment platform. Under this MoU, KB will use mobile-phone based SureCash automated payment platform for loan disbursement and collection for their 2.5 lakh customers across the country.

Dhaka College Joins FSIBL SureCash Mobile Banking Service

Dhaka College has recently signed an agreement to use FSIBL FirstPay SureCash mobile banking services. Under this agreement 22,000 students will be able to pay their tuition fees and other dues from hostel or home using their own mobile phones. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and the principal of Dhaka College, Professor Tuhin Afroza Alam were present during the inauguration ceremony which took place in the teacher’s lounge of Dhaka College. Secretary of Education Ministry Md. Sohrab Hossain, managing director of First Security Islami Bank Limited Syed Waseque Md. Ali and CEO of SureCash were also present in the occasion.

Bangladesh Bank Adarsha High School has recently signed an agreement to use FSIBL FirstPay SureCash mobile banking services. Under this agreement, parents of 4500 students will be able to pay their school fees and other dues from home using their own mobile phones. The Osiris Group, an Asian frontier market investment firm, joined hands with Progoti Systems Limited to invest USD 7 million Series B fintech investment for SureCash mobile banking. Solar Company GHEL Joins SureCash Mobile Banking

Green Housing & Energy Limited (GHEL) has signed SureCash mobile financial services agreement with Progoti Systems Limited (PSL). MD of GHEL Dr. Mostaq Ahmmed and CEO of Progoti Systems Dr. Shahadat Khan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The ceremony was also attended by Sadia Afroze and Md. Tofazzal Hossain Raihan from GHEL and CBO Md. Abu Taleb, SVP S.M. Salahuddin and VP Faruk Hosen from PSL.
As per the agreement, GHEL will use SureCash mobile banking and payments services for its 100 rural branches and 22 irrigation projects. Jamuna Bank Limited (JBL) has launched its mobile financial services named ‘Jamuna Bank SureCash’ to extend banking and payment services to unbanked people in the country. The launching program was held at the bank head office in the capital on Monday December 29, 2014.
