Dhaka – 20th June – Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will use Rupali Bank SureCash mobile banking service to disburse stipend for students. The ministry and the bank signed an agreement at the Directorate of Primary Education.
In presence of Honorable Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman and Rupali Bank Board of Director Chairman Monzur Hossain, the agreement was signed by Secretary of Primary and Mass Education Mohammad Humayun Khalid and Managing Director of Rupali Bank M. Farid Uddin.
In the signing ceremony, Additional Secretary N.I Khan, Additional Secretary Md. Gias Uddin Ahmed, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Additional Director General Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Deputy Managing Director Debasish Chakrabarty and Chief Executive Officer of SureCash Dr. Shahadat Khan, Chief Business Officer Abu Taleb and other high officials were present.
Initially, Rupali Bank SureCash will disburse stipend this year as a pilot and will be used for all primary stipends in the country, starting upcoming fiscal year. Progoti Systems Limited will provide technical support in this project.
Honorable Minister Rahman said that, ‘‘Government of Bangladesh has the mandate to digitalize all government payments and stipend disbursement through mobile banking which is an important initiative in that direction. From now on mothers of primary students will receive stipends directly into their mobile account, and as a result our disbursement process will be easy, efficient and transparent.’’
Secretary Humayun Khalid states that, “As part of their initiative we are developing a database for primary students and their parents that can be used later for various planning and research.”

Rupali Bank SureCash is a comprehensive mobile banking and payment platform, through which a customer can send money, make various payments such as education fees, utility bills, and online purchases, recharge mobile balance and receive personal remittance using own phone. Customers may open mobile banking account or deposit/withdraw cash at any SureCash retail agents distributed around the country.
